The Governing Council of the Association of Motion Pictures and Television Program Producers (AMPTPP) unanimously elected producer Sajid Nadiadwala as its new President.
He will now preside over the association as Chairperson and ex-officio of all the committees framed and working on different agendas. Interestingly, Nadiadwala is the youngest President the AMPTPP has ever had. Its prime agenda is to get strong representation before the State and Central Government for reforms in policies that affect the film and television industry. Among them is the amendment of statutes including the Copyright Act, relief in service tax and other statutory levies, relaxation with respect to stamp duties on Copyright agreements, speedy remedy by way of quick arbitrations and mediations, and investment in the entertainment sector, among other things.
